Father's Memorial by sirkles Father's Memorial by sirkles
I was commissioned to make this a long time ago (I finished before the new number system as even created), but lost contact with my customer. It was intended to be a tattoo memorial for my commissioner about his father. His father's name was Louis Edward Janicki. He was born May 7, 1947, and died November 6, 2011. This contains both parts (name and dates), but not in any particular order. Also, the dates are phrased sorta weird... just look closely and you should figure out what they say. There is also a random line that goes through "Janicki" that was once a typo, but I couldn't erase it, so I just continued it... so, yeah :P

If you are interested, here is a [link] to the page in my sketchbook that has the development of this design. It should give a hint about how long it takes to make something like this. If you want to see the sketches of some of my other designs, I would be happy to share :)

I would like to use this as part of the background on a redbubble shirt and on iPad cases. I will probably modify it slightly and it will be partially obscured in the background. I may make some money off of the sale of the shirt/case, so I wanted to check if it was ok with you to use the image. I will be sure to credit you in the shirt's/case's description, and will make the modified version available on my deviantart under the creative commons license, is that alright?

Umm.... that says the birth date and death date of some guys dad... I don't think you will want to sell that as an ipod cover or a shirt...  I won't for the guy's confidentiality...

would you have anything else you would be comfortable letting me use? I really like your stuff. I noticed you do commisions, but I haven't made a single cent off of t-shirts yet, so it seems kind of counter-productive for me to pay you to make something. Maybe if you just had some practice scraps? I just need something to add a little detail to the background.

alright, but then you should change the terms on creative commons license for this. It's marked as reuse even commercially, which is why I found it in a google search...

How about this one? sirkles.deviantart.com/art/Gal… It is just a pangram, so it is basically gibberish. It was also not a commission for someone else, just a personal project. You can use it for whatever you want, I would just ask for a cut that is 75% of the amount of space the design makes up for in your project. Like, if the design takes up half of the iPad case/whatever I will want a 37.5% cut. It seems like you will be using it for much smaller things, like a tenth of your design, so I would only be taking a 7.5% cut, so if you would have made $10 from this sale, I would want $.75. Also, if you continue to have bad luck, don't worry about paying until things add up to be more than $20.

Does this make sense?

ok... but if I do that, and it covers 10% of the design (as an aside, it will be obscured by other parts of the design, so it may take up 5% at most, if we count the whole area of the circles instead of just the lines.) then you will make o.33 cents per T-shirt, so 1/3 of a cent. At that rate, I will need to sell 660 shirts before you would see $20 dollars. I'm not exactly a corporation or anything, I expect to sell maybe 20 of these shirts at most, I am only making the design because a friend requested it.

while I was waiting for your reply, I did take a crack at making these things myself. didn't finish it yet, and it's not as nice as yours.

I'd have to think about it.

If it that small, then I don't really care. Since it won't make $20 it will be free for you to use :)
